I wonder where you stand on the handling a present or not. You know some people they pick up the gift – give it a good squeeze or a shake – or are you the sort of person who likes to look and guess what is inside – do you wrap up presents to make them look like something else – to throw the recipient into thinking they have received something else to make the surprise extra special.

How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land? Psalm 137: 4

Psalm 137 was a written whilst the Israelites were in exile in Babylon. For many years the location where worship had happened had been the temple and now in exile they had to work out what it would look like to worship the Lord in a strange land.

We are neither in a sprint or a marathon – perhaps more like a triathlon.

Over the last four months we have changed and adapted to a new reality in the light of the Coronavirus.

It was recently reported that during this lockdown period more people are tuning into church services than ever went before and that people are calling out to God in prayer. Others have spoken about how they have found prayer challenging and different in this time. Old rhythms that have sustained us for many years no longer fit the new way of being. This maybe a time to explore new ways of praying and to ask God to reveal more about prayer and Himself to you.

God delights in our prayers and we testify to the importance of prayer in all times.
